Trauma

Therapy can help by teaching you the skills you need to regulate your nervous system, while empowering you to re-explore your relationship with yourself. EMDR therapy, also known as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a type of therapy that is designed to help you move past those "stuck" points or themes in your life that occur as a result of emotional distress and trauma. Have you ever felt "trapped" by your emotions and beliefs, your nervous system seemingly suspended in a hyper-aroused and anxious state? EMDR can facilitate a way to process long-held trauma and beliefs in the body while re-creating a sense of safety and trust within yourself.

Anxiety

Anxiety may feel debilitating and limiting in daily life. In session, we will explore anxiety coping skills and build on the concept of neuroplasticity- this is the ability your incredible brain has to rewire and restructure itself with the right tools. We will explore crisis management skills, as well as your mind - body connection to learn how to calm and regulate your nervous system. Therapy can also provide you with the opportunity to explore the source and meaning behind the anxiety, understand it better, and learn to work with it instead of against it.

Depression

Life was never meant to be easy. In fact, depression and suffering is a large part of the human condition. Sometimes we need a space to just be heard or feel seen. We need a space where the pain can be held and kept safe, where we can be vulnerable without any fear of judgement. Managing depression doesn't have to be such an isolating ordeal. We can do this together.

Teens and Adolescents

I like to describe myself as a kid in an adult's body. I have always found it so wonderful and innate to connect with my child and teen clients. Utilizing play and art therapy as well as other creative means, we can safely explore that which is often painful and frightening for kids and teens, all while teaching age-approporate coping skills. I work closely with the families of my younger child clients, collaborating with parents to ensure well-rounded and effective interventions.

Anger Management

Anger is a secondary emotion. If you're wondering why your anger feels unpredictable or hard to manage, we need to explore what's going on below the tip of the icebergAt Southern California Counseling Center, I facilitated the trauma-informed women's anger management support group. While working at Avedian Counseling Center, I received my certification in anger management counseling. Anger management sessions are part psychoeducational, part therapy, designed to equip you with the skills to manage your anger while cultivating self-understanding and self-compassion.

Social Anxiety

Social anxiety makes socializing feel like an impossible task, creating a roadblock for those of us who still crave and hope for human connection. Using CBT's exposure therapy, as well as mindfulness and other anxiety coping skills, you can begin to reclaim your life and relationships. I have facilitated the social anxiety support group at Avedian Counseling Center, and am a survivor of social anxiety myself.
